Our Mission

Chartered on February 8, 1948, by six illustrious men devoted to the principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service, the Alpha Xi Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. has proudly served the Shreveport–Bossiercommunity for more than 75 years. As a proud chapter within the Gulf Coast Region, Alpha Xi Sigma continues to embody the fraternity’s motto — Culture for Service and Service for Humanity — through impactful programs and partnerships that uplift, educate, and empower individuals across Northwest Louisiana.

Our chapter is composed of distinguished professionals, educators, entrepreneurs, and community leaders who are united in their commitment to improving the lives of others. From mentoring young men through the Sigma Beta Club, to offering scholarships, promoting health and wellness, and supporting civic engagement, Alpha Xi Sigma remains a cornerstone of positive change in the region.

Alpha Xi Sigma also holds the distinct honor of having two members inducted into the Distinguished Service Chapter (DSC) of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. — Honorable Brother Thomas Edwards and Honorable Brother Dr. Joseph Carter. This recognition, achieved by only a select few, represents the highest level of dedication and service within our fraternity. Their legacy continues to inspire the chapter’s ongoing commitment to excellence, leadership, and service.

For over seven decades, Alpha Xi Sigma has stood as a beacon of brotherhood, scholarship, and service — proudly advancing the mission of Phi Beta Sigma and strengthening the Shreveport–Bossier community through action, integrity, and purpose.
